Elaine or Eileen?
These two names have been on my mind lately. I like them both, but might like Elaine a touch more because it's so accessibly Arthurian. I like that it's a name from a romantic legend but it's also just.... Elaine. Eileen has that "street smart dreamer" energy I love so much, and I appreciate that. What do you think of Elaine and Eileen? If you had to pick one, which would it be?

My mother had an Eileen relative who used to phone for a chat; this was the signal to take Mum a cup of tea and a slice of cake, because she was going to get monologued at for over an hour ...I've got a Laine niece, named after her mother's school friend Elaine - an excellent person. And a wonderful Elaine SIL: Grade 1 teacher, and also a highly qualified teacher of ballet; now also learning to paint with water-colours. It should be easy, and perhaps it is. I'd pick Elaine, but I'd only use it as a mn. I really cannot warm up to either of them, however hard I try. I find the woild Oirish energy of Eileen moildly attractive, but not enough.

Elaine for sure. Eileen sounds old, awkward and clunky.
