Pressure
While going through the complete SSA list of names given to five or more children in the USA in 2024, I ran across the fact that five boys were named "Pressure" in the USA in 2024. This seems like a very odd word to turn into a name to me and I was wondering if any of you know of a pop culture reference that could account for this.

I hope someone teaches the child the fact that he is free to choose his own name to something that might befit someone’s future soulmate.
I don't know but think ShioTanbo1's explanation seems likely.
It seems so modern-day Puritan to me.

Maybe they liked the name "Precious" but wanted something more "masculine" sounding.

Very odd name. I can't think of any references.
A memory of the moment of birth, perhaps? "Push! Push! Come on, you're nearly there - more PRESSURE!"
I can think of nothing specific, except a general reaction of yikes.

Where did you find the link to all the names? I want to see it! Possibly the name Pressure is because of surface preasure in encanto?
If on the first SSA names page you click on "Decade", and then on the next page click on "Background Information", and then on that third page click on "Beyond the Top 1000 names", you get to a page where you can download the full lists that give you all names used 5 or more times for one sex.
I would be surprised if that were the case. That's a pretty obscure reference.
Hideous!
"Pressure" is used in hip hop culture. I think "applying pressure" is the same as "staying on their necks" or "standing on business". It means that you're really good at what you do, and as a result, you put others in their place (I presume).
This is probably it
I've seen it used like, "she/he [is] pressure," I think to mean they're attractive.
I have no idea what prompted this, but it makes Truce seem suddenly okay.
At least Truce is nice word.
