Odette and Odile?
What do you think? These names are from Swan Lake, of course. But could they be used in real life? They have, but they are rare. They both have been used as Hurricane names. Odette Atlantic, Odile Pacific. Do you like them? Also, Does Odette remind anyone of Toadette?

I like both of them, although Odette more than Odile. I also like Odelia, Odélie, Odelle and Odetta.
I'm sorry, but I am not fond of these names. They might be some of my least favorites.
Until today, they both reminded me of odor / odiferous, and odious / odium.
Because I was pronouncing them oh-dette and oh-deal.Then I saw the French pronunciations that sound more like "odd." Odd-ette and Odd-eel. lol, that's actually a lot better.
Still don't really like them, though!
Odilia and Otilia are nicer (oh-TEE-lya) in my opinion.

I prefer Odile to Odette.
I've known people with both these names. I personally prefer Odile, because it sounds more elegant to me. I did have it on my own baby name list and I'm kind of sad I couldn't find a spot for it. Odette is pretty, but I associate it with a children's movie, which is maybe why it feels less mature to me. Both are stunning names.
They could be used in real life.
I like Odile better than Odette.
Odette reminds me of Odie from Garfield, and odor, but not Toadette. Odile also makes me think of Odie and odor.I thought Odile would have been pronounced OH-di-lay. The pronunication is not easy. I think Odelay is the name of a Beck album.
I like Odilon (like the artist Odilon Redon) better.

Interestingly Odilon Redon was named Bertrand but called Odilon after his mother, Odile Marie.
My preferred forms of these would be Odet as a guy's name, and for feminine: Odetta, Odelia, Otilia.Odette is alright; it doesn't remind me of Toadette. The pronunciation of Odile isn't intuitive for me, and I haven't seen it in use, so it's not something I'd pick, but it could be interesting maybe.

Odile instinctively I want to pronounce oh-Dyle. I hate. Odette is incomplete. So my favorite is Odetta. Hands down.

"Odile instinctively I want to pronounce Oh-dyle."...wait, you mean it's not?
I clicked the name to be sure. Well I learned something new today.
I love both but prefer the more mysterious Odile.
Odette is more approachable, but they're both lovely names❤️
I don't think of the hurricanes. Odette - love it, think of The Swan Princess cartoon before Swan LakeOdile - also love itI love the similar Odélie, Odilia, and Odilie as well :)

The hurricane was just to mention that they are common
I think they could be used in real life, sure. They're unusual but not silly. I used to prefer Odette because I considered it "prettier", but I'm able to appreciate Odile a lot more nowadays. Odile is sleek. Odette doesn't remind me of Toadette at all.
I do not know what swan lake is. I do not like Odile. Odette is fine.
Swan Lake is a ballet, with music by Tchaikovsky. Odette is a princess who is turned into a white swan by an evil sorcerer whose daughter Odile is a black swan. A prince falls in love with Odette, but the sorcerer wants him to marry his own daughter and first turns Odette into a swan and then makes Odile look exactly like Odette: the prince is fooled, promises to marry her, and when he finds out the truth, he and Odette decide to die together rather than live without each other. By their death, they break all the sorcerer's spells and all the swans (the corps de ballet) are changed back into young women, who dance their gratitude while the lovers ascend to Heaven! Not what you'd call realistic, but the music and the dancing are beautiful.
Reminds me of Macedonian folktale "Siljan Štrkot" (siljan stork) about a guy who turns into stork. He does not have good ending.Swan Lake sounds interesting to watch!
I prefer Odette.
