Interesting that "Conchita" can have two quite different meanings like that, but I just checked it out and you were right! Conchita is a Spanish word which literally means "little seashell".Looks like Mike C. will have to revise the Conchita entry in the names data-base. :)-- Nanaea

Hmm, that is interesting. I looked up concha and it does indeed mean "shell" in Spanish ("seashell" I presume). Conchita would mean "little seashell".However the name Concha is listed by multiple name books/websites as being a diminutive of Concepcion. No reference is made to the other meaning, which has doubtlessly had some influence. Conchita is a double-diminutive.I will make a note of that in the entry.
