At first I thought with the "Y, consonant" spelling form that this name was Quechua (Peruvian Indian). It may yet be, but I think a likely origin is as a Spanish spelling of the name of a minor Greek poet of the 5th century BC, called "Ibico" in Italian.

Ibykos (also referred to with the Latin spelling Ibycus) is spelled with an iota and an ypsilon. The name itself is derived from the Cretan "ibykter", "one who begins a war-song" (Liddell-Scott).
