Oh beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of... names?
Just for fun, I thought I'd go through Social Security statistics for numbers of babies born in the U.S. in the year 2000, issued a Soc. Sec. card, and given names after one of the 50 states.Alaska - 18 girls
Arizona - 45 girls; 9 boys
Carolina - 1,251 girls
Dakota - 1,066 girls; 4,469 boys
Georgia - 921 girls
Indiana - 23 girls; 26 boys
Jersey - 6 girls; 9 boys
Kansas - 24 girls
Montana - 422 girls; 138 boys
Nevada - 33 girls; 25 boys
Tennessee - 5 girls; 5 boys
Texas - 6 boys
Utah - 8 boys
Virginia - 795 girls
Washington - 5 boys-- Nanaea

Jeff and I like Georgia and Maine. Both names are for girls.

I'm liking Georgia and Jersey...Georgia because that's where my family's from, and Jersey because I just finished watching Miss Conginality (again) with Sandra Bullock who plays a beauty pagent contestant from New Jersey. Everyone called her Jersey and I thought it sounded cool.

That many Carolina's, or are you including Caroline's?:)

No, I didn't include the Carolines. But if I had included the Dakotahs, Dakodas, and Dakottas (of both sexes) the name "Dakota" would've shot off the scale.-- Nanaea
