Hi. Im looking to see if anyone else has my name...Sherrill (sounds like cheryl/sheryl.) I was told that it is a last name. I have only found one woman who has it as her first name. I havent found anyone using it as a last name.
What I have found funny, is that on a current shopping site..there are like 5 people with my same first name and last. Funny, I think their computer is on the blink or I have stolen identity problems!
Anyway, anyone out there with the same spelling?? Thanks!

Sherrill as a last name is extremely common in Catawba County, NC (Hickory area, north of Charlotte), where they were the pioneering family in the late 1700's. I knew scads of 'em there (including my next-door neighbors). For a message/discussion board on the surname and some historical background, go to www.genforum.com\sherrill\ .
Sorry, no info on its use as a first name. I'd bet on it being a spelling variant of "Cheryl" unless the surname has some presence in your family background.
