does anyone know anything about the name VALLON? It was used as a surname in the movie gangs of new york for an irish character but it hasn't turned up anywhere. i really like it as a first name but can't seem to find it's origins and meaning.

I met a guy from Kosovo named Valon. He said it meant "wave" as in the verb "to wave" in Albanian.

Vallon was a family name in Gangs of New York. The first name was Amsterdam. Vallon means "small valley" in French.

I would suspect that if it is referencing an Irish origin character, it is more likely to have been a corruption of the Irish surname Fallon/O’Fallon.
