origin of my surname
my surname is "furtun" which does not have any particular meaning in turkish language my family originated from blacksea region and there are many etnic groups around the blacksea region also there exists variations of my surname such as furtunzade, furtuna etc. As I am lawyer I do remember the latin word "furtum" defining the theft in law but I do hope that my surname has no connection with this word. So if anyone has any knowledge about the meaning of the word "furtum"
or ever met in any dictionary with this word please do inform me with my deepest appreciations
hakan furtun

"Like a thief" is "furtim", and I honestly don't see how it could possibly become a surname! If there's Latin influence on names where you come from, then the word for good luck, which is "fortuna", is much more likely (and close to Furtuna). I think we've got the answer there! You signed yourself Hakan Furtun. Do you use the name Idris? I have always thought it one of the finest names in any language.
