MITYA - our cat's name
Could someone please tell me how to pronounce our new cat's name correctly. Mitya. I know the name is russian. I just need a correct pronounciation. The cat was already named when given to us.
Thanks for your help.

Consider "I meet you".
Keep the stress on "meet".
Omit the initial "I".
Replace the final "you" with "yea" which sometimes can be heard instead of the literary "yes".
Then, you shall be close to the pronunciation the cat heard at the home it was born.

Many thanks. You have explained this well. I will now go downstairs and try it out on Mitya.
It looks like it is pronounced MIT-CHA. Sorry, I don't know for certain.
I thank you for your time in replying to my question. This has helped.
