Re: Espoire
in reply to a message by Hope
Try "Espérance"."Espoire" appears to be a trendy, made-up name, and not immediately recognized in France either, if you check a few French baby names sites:http://www.prenoms.comhttp://www.meilleursprenoms.com-- Nanaea

The verb for hope in French is 'esperer' (I think!) So it looks close, but I don't think so. I'd have to go with Nanaea on this one!

The word has the same root as "aspire": the Latin "spirare", meaning "to breathe". I breathe, therefore I hope.

I thought poires were pears, as in Belle Helene? If so, good fruit but bad name.

An S-pear? You remind me of an joke about an automobile called the S-Car. I forget the joke itself, but remember the punchline:
"Look at that S-car go!"

Hi,there's a French word "espoir" which means hope, confidence. Maybe someone has just added an -e to make the word a female name???Regards, Satu
