I pronounce Helle as HEL-le, I guess that's how it should be pronounced as a Danish name. As for Esme, it's es-MAY.

In normal English pronunciation. it's Ez-may, as the s is voiced. this has been answered before.

And here in South Africa we serenely use the one-E spelling for girls! And pronounce it EZ-may ...
