female version of Dain?
I am having trouble finding a female meaning/origin for my name: Dain
My mother alluded to some french ballet dancer but I've been unsuccessful in tracking down anything under this lead. Dad's clueless. I'm tired of answering people's queries regarding the origin of my name with my standard " uh, I was born to parents in the '60s"!! And I don't want the male versions of this name, of which there are plenty! Can anyone help?
TIA,
Dain Alee

Hi Dain,I think your name is a writing variation of the female name Dayne which comes from the Old Norse female name Dana (pronounced 'dahnah' originally but changed to 'daynah' in English speaking countries). The meaning is: Woman from Denmark.Regards, Satu
