Help with name (Gerlien)?
It was the bride's name in an invitaion I proofread the other day. Besides its gender, I really don't know much more about it. I think it could be German but I'm not sure. I was just curious what its meaning and pronunciation were. Soft "g" or hard "g"? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi namefan,Gerlien is a Dutch form of the Old German name "Gerlinde". "ger" meaning "spear" and "lind" meaning "snake" or "mild" or "lindentree".The pronunciation is: gehr-leen (hard g!).Regards, Satu
