My daughter's name
Hi, my daughter's name is Ciani but I pronounce it "See-Ah-Nee". (I 'borrowed' it from a family with this last name). It's a shame that I now want to find out it's meaning. I noticed on this site the name of Cian (which I know is a boy's name pronounce "Keen" or "Keen-ni"), even though spelled just like my daughter's name, it doesn't have the 'i' at the end. Could Ciani be the feminine form?

Why not.

UnlikelyCian is an Irish boy's name. The female form would be either Ciannait (keenit) (old) or Ciana (keena) (modern). You'd do best to go back to the family you got the name from and ask them what their ethnic background is. It looks like an Italian/Spanish diminutive form (short for something like Feliciani etc) but it could be anything...
