Rowan- feminine?
Well, I found this name in an Anne Rice novel. Hubby thinks its male, but it was the name of a female. However, I can only find it listed as female in all of the books. What do you guys think?Male or female?

Traditionally, most people think of Rowan is a masculine name. However, it also has a history of being a feminine name. Check out this link: http://www.medievalscotland.org/problem/names/rowan.shtml

forgot to mentionThe tree that the webpage is referring to is what is typically called (in the United States) European Mountain Ash, one of its folk names is Rowan and its Latin name is Sorbus aucuparia. It is believed to be a plant with magical properties, specifically those related to magical power, psychic power, healing, success and protection.
