Phyllis is right about "Evie". "Booker" was originally an English occupational surname for a person who worked with books of some kind -- generally a scribe or a binder.I believe one is likely to find a "Bookie" or two, as well, down at the racetrack.-- Nanaea

I don't know about Booker, but I think Evie is a diminutive of Eve, which comes from Hebrew meaning life. I may be wrong though.Phyllis
