First name MEROPEE
In a 50 year old German story book I found the name MEROPÉE with an accent on the E after the P. So this gave it a somewhat French look. Still the name sounds Greek to my ears. - Any ideas?

It seems probable that this is just a French or "Frenchified" version of the name Merope from Greek mythology. Merope possibly meant "bee mask" in ancient Greek. There are at least five different characters in Greek myths with the name, including one of the Pleiades, the ancient nymphs who have a famous cluster of seven stars named after them.
