-Kins as in Perkins
In the mid 1200's, Pierre from Moralis, France, aka Pierre De Morlais, lived in England, working as an aide to the king,* He was also known as "Petrus Morley, alias Perkin"** To this writer, Pierre's son was the first known user of the surname "Perkins."* There are many spellings of the surname. They include: Parkins, Perkyns, Parkyns, Parkens, Perkin, and Perkyn. ** *Some information taken fron genealogy research on the Perkins surname.

The -kin is a diminutive ending, like -chen in German or -tje in Dutch; it also appears in, e.g., Simpkins.But, shouldn't this be on the Surnames Board?
