What about the name Jas
I know that there are some Greek names that end with -ias,didn't know if there was a relation? My first name is just 'Jas'....

Maybe short for Jasper?

Could be short for Jason ... and in English they used to use Jas. as an abbreviation of James, especially in the names of companies: Jas. Jones, Smith and Robinson, chartered accountants. Something like that. (Also Jno. for John, Geo. for George.)

Interesting! I've only ever seen Thos for Thomas, and actually read a novel once in which a Thomas character was addressed as Thos! Poor bloke ... lucky he was fictional.
