hi!

i a, trying to find out the origin of my mothers name. her name is DORICIA.

she was told by her mother that it was of italian origin, but unfortunately we do not believe this to be true. it could possibly be spanish.

if it helps she was born in 1946.

If it's Spanish, tghen the letter c would be pronounced like the English th, so my guess is that it's a form of Dorothea.

My guess is that Doricia is a Spanish (or possibly Italian, sure why not?) variant of the Greek name Dorcas (which is also sometimes changed to Dorcia). It could also be a diminutive of the name Doris.
