i can't find an answer whether the name sky should have an e on the end to depict it as masculine.

I wouldn't say the spelling denotes gender but what you are taking the name from. Skye is the name of the Scottish Island while Sky is the English word.

They are both unisex, but Skye is much more popular on girls.
