I'm doing work for a class. There are a certain type of names used in the U.S mostly english originated ones, right? well, i need to find out why we use these names? Think you can help?

Do you mean English as in from Great Britain or the English language?

Probably because the official language is English - unless I'm misunderstanding what you're asking?
If you want to know about specific names, look for the names of past kings and queens, saints, famous personalities etc. But noone has any really solid explanations for why names become popular - naming practices are a chaotic system and well-nigh impossible to predict beforehand.
