Gerald
I recently learned that my husband had a Great-Uncle Gerald who pronounced his name GER-ald, rather than JER-ald. Has anyone ever heard Gerald pronounced that way before? Is there any legitimacy to that pronunciation? Or could it just be that his parents saw the name but were unfamiliar with it so they pronounced it wrong?

Thanks! The family is from Germany, so that could be why they pronounced it that way. Now that I think about it, that's how it would be pronounced in German, right? I don't really know German.

I've also heard the pronounciation with the hard "g", I think it's the normal one in Germanic languages.
