Several questions about "Avedis"
Several of my ancestors (of both genders) were named "Avedis", which apparently means "good news".
1) Is it more commonly bestowed on girls or boys?
2) How many Americans are currently named that?
and finally:
3) Which syllable is stressed?
Thank you!

I looked it up and found out, that it's an Armenian name for boys, meaning "Good tidings; favorable news" and being pronounced "AH veh dis".

Well, the database says it is masculine, so I'm assuming that means it is most commonly masculine.
Not sure how many Americans are named that, but I have never heard it before.
I don't know the real pronounciation but if I had to say it out loud I would probably stress that first syllable.
