What's the real origin of the name Belisarius?
This sounds really geeky, but I checked out a book about baby names from my work because I wanted to name my WoW character and I was really bored. I came across the name Belisaria, and it said that it meant right handed archer. Online, however, I couldn't find anything about the name besides the fact that it obviously came from the Byzantine general Belisarius. It's speculated that his name meant White Prince, but every hint I've had about this name is so obscure that I can't find its real meaning. Does anyone know? Now I'm very curious.

It comes from the byzantine greek name Belisarios, latinazed in Belisarius. Its origin is uncertain. It could be Illyrian, from belizar, white prince. Or it could come from bélos, greek for arrow. That's everything I was able to find about it.

There seems to even be a Germanic hypothesis. It could come from *bilis, little sword and *harja, army.
