Aaralyn
There were 54 baby girl Aaralyns born in the USA last year (276 if you count other spellings like Aralyn, Aralynn etc.). All the websites I can find it on (including the user submitted db on this site) say it's of American English origin and means "with song" or "melody" or something like that, which I'm dubious of for a number of reasons. Does anyone know where this comes from and why it's suddenly so popular? A book? Movie? It's odd that the most common spelling starts with AA. ******************************************

It's a made-up name, probably indeed from Aaron and Lynn. It sounds similar to the recently created name Adalyn/Adelyn, which is getting trendy, so it might be piggybacking on a trend.

There was a thread about this a few years ago. This is my answer from then. http://www.behindthename.com/bb/fact/3094717

Well, babynames.com tells us it's a "Combination of Aaron and Lyn".I know, I know, that's a "baby names" website, but according to my experiences it usually makes sense, and "Combination of Aaron and Lyn" sounds like a pretty reasonable guess to me. Explains rather handily where the "AA" comes from, doesn't it?I currently go through the ranks 500 to 1000 of the US 2009 hitparates to complete my own database, and because of names just like Aaralyn it's not that much fun: Many of the still missing names are "kreativ schpellings" or such combinations, which from an etymological point of view are rather boring...
