TANITH
Any ideas of the derivation of the name TANITH. I believe that it, or something similar is common in Egypt-though may be of Mayan or Inca derivatives.

Tanith, meaning "Great Mother" was a sky goddess of ancient Carthage who ruled the sun, moon, and stars. When the Romans conquered and destroyed Carthage, they called her "Dea Caelestis" ("Goddess of Heaven "). She is also identified with the goddess Astarte .-- Nanaea

An alternate theory is that Tanith derives from the name of a popular outdoor sport played on clay courts on Fire island.
