I want complete pronunciation respect!
Every so often I've been disrespectfully addressed as "STEF-en" when My mother named Me Stephen said "STEEV-en" As of lately I've been getting slashed with the moronic version. I'm posting a link here to let people know just how most of Us Stephens feel about the distortion of Our name!https://www.facebook.com/groups/59886615840/http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VHxV6Jr4gE&list=HL1385388867

Chill outIf you look up the name Stephen on this site, you will see that STEF-en is an accepted alternative pronunciation to STEEV-en. Therefore, it isn't ignorant for anyone to pronounce it STEF-en. True enough that it isn't correct in your case, and in the case of the majority of Stephens, in the US at least, but that doesn't make it either moronic or a distortion. It can't be either when it's an accepted pronunciation. Nor is it disrespectful for anyone to address you with an accepted alternate pronunciation of your name, at least upon first meeting you---it would only be disrespectful if they continued to do so after you had corrected them. And you say that it's "every so often", so it doesn't seem that this is even a frequent occurrence. I don't see why this would be a major issue for you. Also, this board is for questions that pertain to name facts, and your post has nothing to do with facts.
