Help with Greek names
Is Megara derived from Megaera? Megara isn't listed in the database, but it is the name of a city in mythology and Hercules' first wife, whom he killed in his madness.

The name "MEGARA" derives from "MEGAS" = "big, full-grown, great", while the name "MEGAERA" derives from the verb "MEGAIRO" = "regard as too great": hence, "grudge one a thing as too great for him", from "MEGAS" + verb "GERAIRO" = " to honour or reward with", from "GERAROS" = "of reverend bearing, majestic", from "GERAS" = "a gift of honour".
PS: "MEGARA" is still a city in Greece, not far from Athens.
"Until the day that an ancient inscription is found with the name "Alexandrovski" (or "Alexandrev" or "Alexandrov") written on it instead of "ALEXANDROS", true Macedonia and true Macedonians will remain Greek, as they always were."
