I have known two guys named "Rao", but it always seems to be a first-name ELEMENT (as in "Ramarao") or a last name, not a first name by itself. I believe it's in the Telugu language of India."Rulon" sounds like some 50-year-old Mormon militia dude who lives in the boonies of southwest Utah with his four wives and 22 children. Or maybe the Davis Mountains of west Texas. Am I close?

Oh yeah - almost forgot. Besides being a Telugu name, "Rao" is also an important interjective lyric in The Commodores' funky "Brick House" of 25 years ago. Raaoo!

I'm not 100% sure, but I beleive "Rulon" is another German spelling for the German name "Roland ", which means "famous throughout the land". Does anyone else agree or disagree?

Sounds good to me, 'Cole . :) Seeing as how our visitor didn't seem to notice the message which appears everytime one hits the "Post a Message" button:"If you are posting a question about the origin of a name please include as much information as possible. Most important are the gender and ethnic background."-- Nanaea
