Gepetto is a diminutive of Giuseppe. Pino is another diminutive of Giuseppe, and Pinocchio is a diminutive of that diminutive! So the little wooden puppet's name is a pun: Pine, for the wood he is made of, and Pino/Pinocchio because Gepetto is his namesake.So, no, I can't see your Greek etymology at all.
