Please tell me what you think about the name Skyler for a girl. I'm due next week & my husband & I both like this name. My mother thinks it sounds like a boy's name & she will be teased when she goes to school. My ten year old son has a classmate named Skyler that is a boy and he says he will be very upset if we name his sister Skyler. We were going to go with the name Amber but I think it is too common. Please help!!!!!!

Go with Amber, much more feminine and less trendy. Go with your sons instinct on this one....boys know best..

Skyler is a girls name and a boys name but you could change it so that it is more feminine like

Skylee
or Sky Lee
Skia Lee
or Skia ler

I think it is a beautiful name. It is getting to be very popular though.I don't think she will be teased at all.

According to the Social Security Administration's statistics, last year, among boys and girls given the name of "Skyler", the boys were ahead by 13 percent.

On the other hand, among boys and girls given the alternate spelling of "Skylar", the girls led by 70 percent. So it would seem that "Skylar" is perceived to be the more feminine spelling of the two.

Personally, I like "Skylee", because if you have another girl you can name her "Kelsey", which is an anagram of Skylee. :)

Skylee is very pretty. I think it looks nice spelt Skylie too.

I went to school with a boy Skyler , and I used to babysit twin girls named Schuyler and Brianne . I like the name a lot for both genders.

I love the name Skyler for both genders, but I prefer it for a girl. I don´t think she will be teased at school. I love the nickname Sky
/ Skye. I like the name spelled Skyler, Skylar and Schuyler.
