"Morpheus" is the son of Somnus ("Sleep"), and is the god of dreams. The name means "fashioner" or "molder", because he shapes and fashions the dreams that come to mortals. Morphine, the drug which induces sleep, is named after him.-- Nanaea

Let's take a poll!Hmmm... I wonder...Are there more people on this board who know the history of the name "Morpheus"...Or are there more people on this board who are willing to give their private addy to a stranger by e-mailing him to his anonymous Hotmail account at his request?I dunno! We could take a poll! ;)Sorry, Dark River, but you may just have to check in occasionally at this Board if you really want an answer to your query. I'd answer it for you right now, 'cept it's late and I'm tired.-- Nanaea

NanaeaHave you forgotten that I couldn't take Classical Mythology here because I tested out of it? And that I took Latin in high school? And that I'm a voracious reader (kicked out of the library because it was closing time too many times)?Phyllis (aka Sidhe Uaine or Gaia Euphoria)

Hypnos and SPAM trapsI must admit I consider such posts as SPAM traps only made to lure people to give away their e-mail address. I mean if some one took the time to post on this board what makes it so difficult to return and look for answers?About Morpheus, then I have never heard about him before. Yet, if his father Somnus is the the latin version of the greek god Hypnos then Morpheus's mother must be Pasithea. Hypnos was one of the peaceful servants of Hades.
