Do these meanings of the name "Vaiata" seem correct?
Do the sources seem valid?
In "A Tahitian and English dictionary" by H.J. Davies:
Vaiata, the name of a species of taro
a morning bath; a phrase used by the arioi, who bathed early in the morning; see ata
Ata, a cloud, a shadow
stalks of leaves, flowers, and fruits
laughter, to laugh
the twilight
On The Tahiti Traveler website:

In "A Book of Cook Islands Maori Names, Ingoa" by Jon Jonassen

Davies, probably valid, Tahiti Traveler seems like a Chinese whisper of that - grown in the retelling. Jonassen, seems less reliable, but the Cook Islands example may have a different meaning than the Tahitian. Cook Islands Maori is related to but a distinct language from Tahitian.
