I am an African American woman and my name is Moncina. I was named for my God-mother and recently found an Australian-based nailcare product with the same name. Can anyone provide me with the meaning and true origin of the name?

I've heard Moncine, as a variant of Monica. Maybe that's where yours comes from. Perhaps it was invented; many people do that. My sister is friends with a girl named Morielle, who I met recently. Her parents decided to combine a few syllables and come up with something new. Maybe your godmother was in the same scenario?
