Is your friend male or female? What is his or her ethnic background and where was he or she born? Have you asked him or her where the parents found the name?

there'a a names in my French-speaking area-Alcid. Male, and more common about 60 years ago. any help?

My friend is an African-American male born in the San Francisco bay area in the 1970s. I am not very close to his parents.
