i think that you should put the whole meaning of the name in this web site because i would like to know what my name really mean not just what it derrived from. and also i really dont think that megan means a welsh pet!!!!!!

Mike's database says that Megan is "A Welsh pet NAME" A pet name means a nick name. So, in Wales, a nickname for Margaret is Megan.

But the meaning of a name *is* what it's derived from. Unless the name is also a word, like Melody or Rain, the meaning of the word it is derived from is considered its meaning. I don't quite understand what you mean.
Megan doesn't mean a Welsh pet. It's a pet form of Margaret, which means that it's a nickname for Margaret. Not the name of a pet. :)

In the case of Megan you have to click on the link to Margaret to continue. I don't see how it can be much simpler than that.
