[Facts] Re: NAME
Even though the etymology is unclear (may have something to do with multicoloured), the word refers to a songbird which could mimick human voice, probably the mynah or a thrush. The literary connotation is of trust and companionship. It (and related words like Sari/Shari/Sharika, as well as some male forms, though those have not survived) has been used as a name for a long time.
