Hamilton is a city in New Zealand and it sort of has a reputation for being a bit dull. I doubt that would bother you though! (sorry, it was just my immediate thought)
I think it would be okay as a middle name, but I really can't imagine it as a first name. As others have pointed out, Ham isn't the most attractive nn.
