Corinna's father, Cosmo, was a pureblood from the well-known Dawning family. He was set to marry a witch from another old pureblood family - the Megalos family - from the time he was was young, but his sixth year at Hogwarts he met a fourth-year witch by the name of Katerina Rollins. She was muggle-born and painfully shy and awkward, but Cosmo was instantly taken with her. The two started dating and shortly afterward Cosmo broke his engagement. His family and the Megalos family were furious, but he didn't care. Cosmo and Katerina were married straight out of Hogwarts and Corinna was born three years later, the oldest of their children.

Corinna was not raised in the wealthy, affluent style her father had been - Cosmo had been cut off from most of the Dawning family money, and anyway he and Katerina wished to live more simply. However, Corinna still inherited a lot of her father's aristocratic mannerisms and charm. From her mother she got her appearance - brown hair, brown eyes, and freckles - as well as her mother's love of books. She attended Hogwarts, as her parents had, and was in Ravenclaw. She was a prefect, but never made Head Girl. Her strength was in history classes and she would like to return to Hogwarts as a history professor, though hopefully a slightly more interesting one than some of the ones she had.
