I prefer Megan prn meg-in with not much of an emphasis on either syllable, but I have to admit that a couple years ago Maegan was pretty close to my favorite name, and prn the same way as your friend. I still like to say it that way, but figure I would still spell it Megan if I did because with a southern accent (which I have) that ambiguous vowel comes in and you can make it sound that way without seeming unnatural. Unfortunately as much as I like it, I can't use it because it's my brother's ex-wife's name.
