I like it as a given name, even though I usually dislike lnfns (and I once had a teacher who was Miss Verity); not sure how it would get nicknamed, though. Very would be unpleasant!

I remember seeing a book or books once with an author, forget the ln, whose fn was Verily. I disliked that instantly!
