I used to greatly dislike this name. I thought it was an ugly name, and unimaginable on a child; I could only imagine balding, unsanitary, middle-aged men with this name. I also worried about the prospects of a child named Hugo being overweight and thus labeled as "Huge-o."

Then I saw the movie Hugo, and while it wasn't my favorite film by any means, it did make me warm up to the name Hugo. I could actually imagine it on a child! Now I can at least appreciate the appeal it has for some, and can even admit it's kind of cute. It's still not a favorite, but it's okay.
