It's fine. It has a great meaning, obviously. But as a first name I feel it also puts pressure on the child because you just expect a joyful person and there are some people who don't have a positive or happy energy so it would feel a bit weird. I mean it can also signify the joy you feel about the birth of the child but still I feel like it adds some pressure. Hope works better. I'd say that Joy is nice as a middle name but if feels a bit filler-ish.
