I think it sounds silly and it does make me think of the "bland" connotation that array mentioned. I don't necessarily think of sex, but anything can be described as vanilla meaning bland. It sort of like naming your kid beige, on top of the fact that it's an ice cream flavor. This is WAY weird to me.
