I'm not crazy about it, personally. But I have good personal associations with the name. My best friend is Kimmie--not Kimberly or Kim, her formal name is Kimmie. This has caused her some headaches, though. So I'm glad that if you're going to do Kimi, you'll give her the full name of Kimberly. I just find the name to be outdated now. Sorry.
