No idea on how to convert him because I agree. If someone told me they were considering Harriet, I would think "Why?".
Hattie is a cute nickname but it is really old fashioned & dowdy unattractive librarian.
I was actually talking about this with DH over the weekend bc on whatever tv show he was watching Harriet's sister was talking about Harriet stole all her boyfriends, and I couldn't imagine a Harriet stealing or seducing anyone.
