Despite knowing the origin, my primary association is that it sounds/looks like a portmanteau of
Lucy and
Edna. I'm fond of
Lucy but not so much of Edna...so the lu- makes it seem sweet and bright, while the -na seems alternately frumpy and quirky.
I also associate it with the moon goddess and
Luna Lovegood.
I like it in some combos (for example,
Luna Simone,
John Legend's daughter), but overall, I want to like it more than I actually do.
