It doesn't make me think "old lady" probably because it has never been rampantly popular for any generation, to my knowledge. It makes me think of the girl in Beetlejuice. A sort of creative, quirky girl. I probably wouldn't use it myself because it doesn't sound "pretty" to me and it isn't really my style, but it would be great on someone else's kid.
